nice photos, but..
I know what you’re thinking. ”Yeah yeah, nice photos and all, but where are the videos?! ” I guess you’re going to have to trust me, the videos look amazing. The whole ribbon turns into a giant swooping animation. It looks great.
We’ve decided to hold out on you guys. We’re not going to post any videos until we have the opportunity to make the right...
long time no post
Sorry, crazy week down in Raleigh, I barely looked at my computer. Now I’m in brooklyn for 36 hours, then off to San Jose to give the final final presentation for the Climate Clock project.
On the ribbon sculpture, we’ve got 7 of 9 panels up (or 14 of 18 if you like), so we’re almost there! Jeff is going to stay with the crew this week to finish up the last 2.
I’ve...

up, down, up
I haven’t forgotten about you. I’ve just been really busy.
Got back here Thursday morning. We realized when we turned on panel H that the double-reversed polarized replacements didn’t match. Oh, they blink, but they just look, wrong. 2 -180s do not a 360 make. (maybe you have no idea what I’m talking about, but some of you do). This is not something you can see...

a brief break in the action
We’re taking a break for a few days to rest and catch up on some other work. We’ll be back on Thursday.

case of the mondays
man, tough day today. We got the lift fixed last night, so I thought we were off to a great start for Monday.
But today was just running around solving little problems here and there, not really getting anything tangible done. Our work flow is incredibly serial right (as Jeff said). If we get held up on 1 thing, everyone stops and waits for that thing to get resolved.
Our fancy chain...
we're back!
the lift is fixed. Let’s do this.
so stuck up
…pause in the action. We’ve got 2 more days with the big (and expensive!) 80 foot atrium lift to hoist up our I-beam and chain winch, and then we’ll be finished with the high aerial work and we can start hanging the panels. Curtis was in Saturday morning to run the machine and take care of a few cleaning tasks in preparation for our last days with the lift.
fizzle fizzle,...
progress
progress update. 3 of 8 frames now installed. We’re starting to get good at hanging these big things 80 feet up in the air. Swapped a bunch of cables today. Hopefully we’re on track to start hanging panels at the beginning of next week.

we hired, we fired, we wired
Week 1 recap:
We made a lot of progress, but we didn’t really do that much. Jeff has the amazing ability to keep it all framed in a positive perspective and he’s right, things are going great. Over the course of the week, we realized our general contractor was pretty unprepared, so we’ve had to take over the process. We hired 2 riggers quick-fast-in-a-hurry to guide us. We...
